Air receiver requirements
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.169 addresses compressed-air receivers. It requires new receivers within its scope to follow the referenced ASME Section VIII edition, accessible drains, a visible pressure gauge and spring-loaded safety valves, and it prohibits a valve between the receiver and its safety valve. Project engineers should also check state boiler/pressure-vessel rules and the current ASME/code requirements specified by the purchaser.
Electrical and site details
Confirm 60 Hz voltage, motor efficiency requirements, NEMA/UL expectations, short-circuit rating, enclosure type, seismic or wind requirements, and any local electrical inspection. Do not assume a standard IEC package is acceptable without a compliance matrix.
Medical oxygen integration
Always request the final general arrangement, wiring diagram, P&ID, pressure-equipment documents, performance statement, packing data and commissioning plan before shipment. The catalogue table is a starting point, not a conformity declaration.
For a medical oxygen project, clarify whether the compressor is feed air for a PSA/VPSA plant or medical air delivered to a patient pipeline. These are different duties. The machine must not be used to compress oxygen-rich gas without an explicitly engineered oxygen-service package.
